House Against House

The eleventh level has revealed itself to be far more than an abandoned drow outpost. Entire factions are on the move, ancient alliances have fractured, and the deeper halls have become a battlefield where monsters and drow alike struggle for survival.

Guided by unlikely troglodyte allies, the company has learned that House Auvryndar is no longer the only power vying for control of these depths. Another drow house has entered the conflict, and somewhere beyond the northern caverns the two factions wage open war. Whether that conflict presents an opportunity or an even greater danger remains unknown.

Halaster’s deadly game continues to shape every decision. The enchanted torches that illuminate the party’s path demand a constant toll, forcing the adventurers to balance caution with the need to hunt the very creatures that stalk the dungeon. Every encounter now carries two risks: surviving the battle itself, and surviving the Mad Mage’s cruel challenge.

The road north promises no shortage of peril. Local tribes have warned of ropers concealed among the cavern ceilings and a terrifying lightning-wielding monster powerful enough to dominate the surrounding tunnels. Somewhere beyond these dangers lies the next descent—and perhaps the answers to the growing conflict consuming the depths of Undermountain.

The company marches north, uncertain whether they are approaching salvation, another battlefield, or the next move in Halaster’s endless game.

What Happened

Following the clues left by their mysterious feline ally, the party continued exploring the war-torn eleventh level of Undermountain. Illusions, hidden predators, and roaming monsters turned every passage into a deadly test, but careful planning and clever tactics allowed the company to overcome each threat with minimal losses. Among the discoveries was an ancient dwarven chamber containing a mysterious portal and inscriptions hinting at a forgotten level hidden somewhere beneath the dungeon.

The expedition soon encountered the source of the devastating lightning that had haunted the tunnels—a massive bahir enhanced by Halaster’s magic. Though the creature nearly overwhelmed the party with its terrifying power, an extraordinary stroke of ingenuity turned the battle on its head. Using the final wish contained within a legendary blade, Clever Stitch transformed the monstrous serpent into nothing more than a harmless fish, capturing it and ending the encounter in spectacular fashion.

Pressing onward, the adventurers discovered the long-awaited battle between the rival drow houses. Rather than charging headlong into the conflict, they struck from the shadows, unleashing devastating magic that shattered the remaining defenders and brought House Auvryndar’s presence on the level to an end. With the surviving enemy forces scattered and the path to the next level finally open, the company descended deeper into Undermountain, where the legendary Maze Level now awaits.
