Not every hero begins as a legend.
Cail was raised within the fortified library-fortress of Candlekeep, living a quiet life among scholars, monks, and wandering sages. Gifted with remarkable strength, intelligence, and determination, he seemed destined for something greater, though even he could not have imagined how quickly his world would change. Forced to flee Candlekeep alongside his foster father Gorion, Cail’s life was shattered when mysterious enemies ambushed them on the road and left Gorion dead. Alone, confused, and hunted by forces he does not yet understand, he sets out into the wilds of the Sword Coast seeking answers.
This campaign chronicles Cail’s journey through the events of Baldur’s Gate I as recorded through his own eyes. Every triumph, mistake, battle, and discovery is preserved as a personal journal, allowing readers to follow the growth of a young adventurer thrust into a dangerous world of intrigue, monsters, and ancient secrets. From the roads surrounding Beregost to the great city of Baldur’s Gate itself, Cail’s story is one of survival, self-discovery, and the difficult choices that shape a hero’s destiny.
